Present an English Talk at WordCamp Tokyo

WordCamp Tokyo 2019 Call for speakers is now closed.

WordCamp Tokyo 2019 team is looking for speakers of English sessions. Share your knowledge, skills, and experiences with the Japanese and international audience.

Please note we will NOT be providing simultaneous interpretation this year. Instead, we are looking into using UDTalk, a real-time captioning + machine text translation service.

What We Expect from Speakers

Talks for all skill levels are welcome.

We do NOT require you to be famous, or an “expert”. If you haven’t spoken at a conference before, let this WordCamp be your first one! All we ask is that you speak passionately about a topic you know well.

Notes:

  • Talks can be either 15 or 45 minutes in length.
  • We will notify the result of your application by mid-August.
  • We may ask you to join an online meeting to discuss the contents of your session and/or rehearse your talk.
  • WordCamp is a volunteer-run community event and there is no monetary compensation for speaking. Your travel and accommodation cost will not be reimbursed.
  • We will provide a free Session Day ticket and event T-shirt to speakers. Speakers will need to register a free Contributor Day ticket separately if they wish to attend it.
  • If you are not based in Tokyo and don’t know whether you can travel to Tokyo for sure, please let us know in advance. It will not affect the selection process, but we just need to learn as much as we can about your situation.
  • We ask your WordPress.org email address for using the Gravatar photo, and WordPress.org account for associating this speaker experience with your profile page.
